Wilhelmina Barns-Graham
24 Oct 2026 — 3 May 2027 at Tate St Ives
· St Ives
This exhibition brings together works by Wilhelmina Barns-Graham (1912–2004), one of Scotland's most celebrated abstract artists and a central figure of the St Ives modernist movement in Cornwall.
Barns-Graham's practice spanned six decades, evolving from landscape-inspired abstraction — shaped by her encounters with the glaciers of Grindelwald — to dynamic, colour-saturated compositions that placed her at the forefront of British abstract art.
The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to trace the arc of her remarkable career, from early works rooted in observed nature to the exuberant late paintings that confirmed her enduring creative vitality.
