Julian Charriere: Erratic
The exhibition took its title from the geological term for a rock transported far from its origin by glacial movement — a fitting metaphor for Charriere's art, which is itself marked by displacement, deep time, and the slow violence of environmental transformation. Works in the show drew on the artist's expeditions to remote and extreme landscapes, from volcanic islands to Arctic ice fields, confronting viewers with the sublime indifference of nature and the indelible marks left by human activity.
Erratic offered San Francisco audiences a rare opportunity to engage with one of the most compelling voices in contemporary art addressing ecological and geological themes.
