To launch a new cabinet series at the Alte Nationalgalerie, the National Museum in Warsaw arrives as a guest on the Museumsinsel.
In 1876, the Prussian king ceremonially inaugurated the "National-Galerie" on the Museumsinsel. Despite the inscription "Der deutschen Kunst" ("To German Art") on its pediment, the gallery has long engaged with art beyond national boundaries. This inaugural edition of the InterNationalGallery series puts that tension at the heart of the programme, bringing together works from Warsaw and Berlin in a cross-border conversation about national identity, artistic heritage, and the shared histories of European museums.
