Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once praised the two sisters Luise and Friederike of Mecklenburg-Strelitz as "heavenly apparitions [...] whose impression will never fade from my memory." The sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadow immortalised the grace and elegance of the sisters, creating with his Prinzessinnengruppe one of the most beloved works of German Neoclassical sculpture. The Friedrichswerdersche Kirche now presents this iconic double statue in a newly conceived installation, inviting visitors to rediscover the work in a fresh light.
