Carel Visser
until 25 Oct 2026 at Rijksmuseum
· Amsterdam
This exhibition presents the work of Carel Visser (1928–2015), a towering figure in postwar Dutch art. Known for his rigorous exploration of form, material, and space, Visser created sculptures and works on paper that challenged conventional boundaries between abstraction and representation.
From his early welded steel constructions to later assemblages incorporating found objects and organic materials, Visser's practice evolved continuously over six decades. His work is held in major museum collections across the Netherlands and beyond, and continues to exert a strong influence on contemporary sculpture.
