Witkacy and Inspiration
17 Dec 2022 — 5 Mar 2023 at History Museum of Katowice
· Katowice
The History Museum of Katowice presents a temporary exhibition dedicated to Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, the Polish painter, playwright, and philosopher widely known by his self-coined pseudonym Witkacy.
The show brings together a selection of his works to examine the forces and ideas that drove one of the most singular artistic personalities of the early twentieth century. Visitors are invited to explore the themes, relationships, and intellectual currents that fed Witkacy's restless imagination — from his philosophical writings and theatrical experiments to his striking portrait paintings and formal theory of Pure Form.
The exhibition ran at the History Museum of Katowice during 2022-2023.
