Sediment Spirit: Towards the Activation of Art in the Anthropocene
23 Sep 2023 — 14 Jan 2024 at Sainsbury Centre
· Norwich
Sediment Spirit: Towards the Activation of Art in the Anthropocene was a 2023 exhibition held at the Sainsbury Centre, curated by John Kenneth Paranada. The show examined the relationship between art, materiality, and the geological and ecological forces that define the Anthropocene — the current era marked by profound human impact on the Earth's systems.
Through a range of works, the exhibition invited visitors to consider how art can be activated, transformed, and given new meaning in response to the environmental and temporal pressures of our age.
