20 Sep 2024 — 2 Feb 2025 at Westphalian State Museum of Art and Cultural History
· Münster
The LWL-Museum fur Kunst und Kultur presents a special exhibition marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Otto Mueller (1874-1930), one of the most distinctive voices of German Expressionism. Known for his lyrical depictions of nudes in natural landscapes and his empathetic portrayals of Sinti and Roma communities, Mueller developed a uniquely intimate visual language that set him apart from his contemporaries in the Brucke group.
This anniversary exhibition offers visitors a rare opportunity to explore the full arc of Mueller's career, from his early academic training to his mature Expressionist works, shedding light on the life and legacy of an artist whose humanist vision remains as resonant today as ever.
