One Day at a Time: Susan O'Malley and Leah Rosenberg

29 May 2021 — 2 Jan 2022 at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art · San Francisco
One Day at a Time brought together the work of Susan O'Malley and Leah Rosenberg at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2021. The exhibition drew on both artists' shared interest in color, language, and the rhythms of daily life, presenting paintings, prints, and text-based works that invite viewers to slow down and find meaning in the ordinary.

O'Malley, known for her warmly worded public art and participatory projects, is represented here through works that blend motivational language with a sincere, community-oriented spirit. Rosenberg's vivid, grid-like color paintings bring a meditative quality to the show, turning the act of looking into a quiet, joyful experience.

Together, the two bodies of work form a conversation about optimism, routine, and the small gestures that sustain us — a timely message for audiences encountering the exhibition in the aftermath of a turbulent year.
