Luminaries: Small Portraits by Harvey Breverman
at Lin Hall
· Athens
Luminaries: Small Portraits by Harvey Breverman brought together a selection of the artist's characteristically intimate portrait works at the Kennedy Museum of Art in Athens, Ohio. Presented in 2016, the exhibition offered visitors a close encounter with Breverman's distinctive approach to the human face — rendered on a small scale yet charged with psychological depth and expressive precision.
Harvey Breverman, long associated with the University at Buffalo, has built a career around figurative work that balances draftsmanship with emotional intensity. The small-format portraits gathered under the title Luminaries highlight his ability to distill personality and presence into compact, carefully observed images.
