Lucas Cranach the Elder

from 23 Nov 2007 at Royal Academy of Arts · City of Westminster
This major retrospective brought together works by Lucas Cranach the Elder, one of the most significant painters of the German Renaissance. Presented at the Städel Museum in 2007 and subsequently at the Royal Academy of Arts, the exhibition offered a comprehensive survey of Cranach's career — from his early Danube School landscapes and devotional paintings to his celebrated portraits and mythological scenes. An accompanying scholarly catalogue provided in-depth essays and full documentation of the works on display.
