In Search of a Lost People
8 Nov 2024 — 14 Dec 2025
This archaeological exhibition explores the life, culture, and legacy of the Pannonian Avars — a powerful nomadic confederation that dominated the Carpathian Basin from the late 6th to the early 9th century.
Through artifacts, grave goods, and scholarly research, the exhibition reconstructs the daily life, social structures, craftsmanship, and burial practices of a people who left few written records but a rich material heritage.
Visitors are invited to piece together the story of a civilization long overlooked by mainstream history, and to consider what archaeology can reveal when written sources fall silent.
