Exhibition "Next Destination: Carmen Laforet"

1 Jan 2022 — 1 Jan 2022 at Instituto Cervantes · Madrid
"Next Destination: Carmen Laforet" is an exhibition devoted to one of Spain's most important literary figures of the twentieth century. Carmen Laforet burst onto the Spanish literary scene in 1944 when her debut novel "Nada" won the inaugural Premio Nadal, earning her immediate acclaim at just twenty-three years old.

The exhibition traces the arc of Laforet's life and career, from her early years in Barcelona to her later travels and personal struggles, illuminating the experiences that shaped her writing. Visitors are invited to discover the woman behind the celebrated works through personal documents, photographs, manuscripts, and other archival materials.

A landmark figure in post-war Spanish literature, Laforet's voice remains as resonant today as ever, and this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to engage with her world up close.
