Exhibition "Clara Campoamor Rodriguez: Woman and Citizen"

Exhibition "Clara Campoamor Rodriguez: Woman and Citizen"

16 Jul 2022 — 16 Oct 2022 at Biblioteca Nacional de España · Madrid
This exhibition pays homage to Clara Campoamor Rodriguez (1888–1972), one of Spain's most influential figures in the fight for women's rights. A lawyer, politician, and tireless advocate, Campoamor was the driving force behind the recognition of women's right to vote in the Spanish Constitution of 1931.

Through documents, photographs, personal objects, and archival materials, the show traces her remarkable life — from her early years in Madrid to her pivotal role in the Spanish Cortes, and her years in exile following the Spanish Civil War.

The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on her enduring relevance as a symbol of civic courage and gender equality, and on the struggles that still resonate today.
