Children in War, War on Childhood? From 1914 to the Present Day

This temporary exhibition at La Contemporaine examines the profound and lasting effects of war on children, spanning from the outbreak of World War I in 1914 to contemporary conflicts. Through documents, photographs, artworks, and testimonies, the show asks a fundamental question: how have children experienced, endured, and been shaped by war across more than a century of global conflict?

The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the vulnerability of childhood in times of war, as well as the resilience and agency that children have demonstrated throughout history.
