Emma Kunz Cosmos

28 Jan 2022 — 19 Jun 2022 at Tabakalera · San Sebastián
Emma Kunz Cosmos brings together the remarkable work of Emma Kunz (1892–1963), a Swiss artist, healer, and researcher whose practice defied easy categorisation. Working exclusively at night and using a pendulum to guide her hand, Kunz created large-format drawings on graph paper — intricate, symmetrical compositions that she understood not as art but as instruments of research and healing.

This exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the singular visual world Kunz constructed: a cosmos of geometric forms, radiant colour fields, and rhythmic patterns that seem to pulse with an inner logic. Her works were not exhibited during her lifetime, yet today they are recognised as extraordinary contributions to visionary and outsider art.

Emma Kunz Cosmos offers a rare opportunity to encounter an artist who operated entirely outside the mainstream art world, following her own spiritual and scientific convictions to produce a body of work that continues to astonish and inspire.
