Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien presented a solo exhibition dedicated to Daniel Spoerri in 2021. One of the most inventive figures of the European neo-avant-garde, Spoerri is best known for his "tableau-pieges" — snare pictures that fix the remnants of a meal or everyday objects onto a surface and hang them as paintings. The Vienna show offered an opportunity to survey the breadth of his practice, from assemblage and object art to performance-related works, tracing the lasting influence of a key protagonist of Nouveau Realisme.
