Collection Presentation: A NON-U-MENTAL HISTORY OF M HKA – Part 3: Classical Rewind
22 Jan 2022 — 1 May 2022 at M HKA - Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen
· Antwerp
This collection presentation at the Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen (M HKA) is the third installment of A NON-U-MENTAL HISTORY OF M HKA, an ongoing series that charts the museum's holdings in a deliberately non-monumental, playful, and critical way.
Subtitled Classical Rewind, this chapter turns its gaze toward the classical undercurrents running through M HKA's contemporary collection — tracing how artists have engaged with, subverted, or reimagined the traditions of the past. Rather than a straightforward chronological survey, the presentation invites visitors to experience the collection through unexpected juxtapositions and thematic resonances.
First shown in 2022, the exhibition continues M HKA's commitment to presenting its collection as a living, evolving conversation rather than a fixed canon.
