Boldini, De Nittis and the Italians of Paris

4 Nov 2023 — 7 Apr 2024 at Visconti-Sforza Castle · Novara
This exhibition brings together the work of Giovanni Boldini, Giuseppe De Nittis, and their fellow Italian painters who flocked to Paris during the Belle Epoque. Drawn by the city's unrivalled artistic energy, these expatriate artists absorbed Impressionist influences while forging their own distinctive styles, capturing Parisian life with elegance, wit, and a uniquely Italian sensibility.

From dazzling society portraits to shimmering street scenes, the works on display reveal how this community of Italian painters left a lasting mark on the French capital's cultural landscape — and on the history of European art.
