Art Lab: Sound

Art Lab: Sound

from 25 Nov 2024 at Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) · New York
Make some noise! Art Lab: Sound invites visitors of all ages to explore the unique sounds of various materials, construct sound sculptures, create wearable art, and play with color and sound on interactive digital displays.

The Samuel and Ronnie Heyman Family Art Lab is open daily, 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and is free with Museum admission. Please note: during peak times, you may need a timed ticket to enter Art Lab; tickets are distributed at the Art Lab desk. The space is intended for individual visitors and families — capacity limitations mean groups cannot be accommodated.

To reach the Heyman Family Art Lab, walk across the Sculpture Garden, or take the corridor on the second floor of the Museum (past Cafe 2), then head downstairs to the first floor of the Education and Research Building.

An Art Lab: Sound Activity Guide — featuring listening, looking, drawing, and writing activities — is available at the Lab and can be downloaded in English and Spanish.

Accessibility: The installation includes sound amplification. Noise-reduction headsets are available upon request. All-gender and family restrooms are located on Floors 1, 3W, 5, and T1. FM assistive-listening devices (headsets and neck loops for T-coil compatibility) are available for sound amplification upon request.
