· Cologne
Museum Ludwig in Cologne presents a special exhibition marking the award of the 2023 Wolfgang Hahn Prize to Francis Alÿs. The Wolfgang Hahn Prize, granted annually by the Gesellschaft fur Moderne Kunst at Museum Ludwig, recognizes outstanding contemporary artists whose works are acquired for the museum's collection.
Francis Alÿs, born in Belgium and long based in Mexico City, is celebrated for his poetic and politically engaged practice spanning video, painting, drawing, and performance. His works often emerge from extended walks and interventions in urban and conflict-affected landscapes, transforming modest gestures into profound reflections on borders, labor, play, and displacement.
